The Gift Donation Project

What it's all about:

The Gift Donation Project is a program that I have created as my Girl Scout's Gold Award Project where children can begin to give back to the community at a young age. Basically, I believe that children need to start getting more involved at a younger age in this modern world filled with new technologies. This project, I feel, is the perfect solution to the problem. 

If a child is having a party soon, they will choose ANY non-profit organization which they will donate gifts to. Of course, this does not mean the child doesn't get their birthday gifts! This project is a way for children to give and receive all at once. Located on this webpage, there is a printable copy of the "Contract of Giving", which a child and their parents should read over together. The child and their parents will sign this contract, promising to donate items to whatever organization the child has chosen. 

When the child's birthday invitations are sent out, they will ask that each guest brings an item that the organization needs, in addtion to their regular birthday gift.  The child then collects all the items and brings them to the donation center for that organization. Hopefully, this project will instill a feeling of giving back and sharing in children growing up in the fast-paced world that we live in today.

**Don't forget-kids aren't the only ones who can give back to their community through this project. Parents can take part in it too! Ask your friends and family to bring some sort of donation for a charity to your next dinner or holiday party.
